Mannitol is used at1g/kg body weight, and i have used it for meningitis, glaucoma and to induce urination when there is total anuria. it needs to be given slow and is very safe. it can be used whenever u suspect any increase in intracranial pressure.

Dr Gautam, do you go in for any diagnostic tests (physical or lab) in case of suspected CNS/ PNS disorders or is the line of treatment mainly symptomatic?

bodys temp is maintained by hypothalamus. in case of cranial injury thypothalamus also may be involved. that may be reason for reduced temp. one mmore reson could be, the dog had a lower perfusion to its organs due to shock. use other fluids too with mannitol in such cases. think about mannitol after giving fluid for shock reversal. Gautam sir, Am I not correct?
