Gautam Unny This case was refered to me by a client. The previous vet refused to recognize it as a case of HD, just because he sold the pup to this client.

many years back, HD was thought differently. Now a days many vets know that its a genetic problem but the dog is not born with it, may be later due improper raising it is predisposed to HD. So who ever be the vet, he should better not think in the above way that "the dog I sold should never get HD or I will never reveal that it has got it now".
Dr Gautam, thanks for such a nice topic for discussion.

In the radiograph, acetabulum is too shallow. conservative therapy with rest would be better. Ayyapan sir obviously would give better suggestions.

Some vets, I know, uses Anabolic steroids in such cases, if the age is less. Can it help? I think anabolic steroids are very bad choice, side effects are many.

i would avoid anabolic steroids as we are anyhow wanting weight reduction. also this radiograph is not positioned well, but then unless we have our own machine , its tough.

its very important to have the animal in GA for such HD X-ray for better position, correct?

we have been able to manage HD cases with diet control so as not to put on unnecessary wt. & the supplements as suggested by Dr.Unny. even anti inflammatory drugs r used only when really req. these have worked even in dogs where they were suggested by some vets to b PTS.
