Diabetes in dogs n cats

There suddenly is a spurt in diabetes cases in canines.Can we discuss the management of diabetes.These days only human recombinant Insulins are available.How and when to use the combo of short and long acting ones.

r our test authentic? if yes then d pets/companions share d same environment & probably stressful lfestyl as d owner ,try GLIMY n' 100/70 insulin bt touch wood we get 10-12 cases a year

Just and FYI the recent report of banfield from about 2 million dogs said that canine diabetes has doubled in the last 5 years

yes..obesity surely adds to risk ...breeed predisposition- I will like to study that..and screen breeds more prone to diabitis..Then hypothyroidism adds to the disesse..so Hypothyroid, fat, and breed - screen such animals...

like i had a dog..whenevr i wud test him he wud be above 500...then i found out owners fed him ne time and nething....now under control with two inj at 12 hrs apart daily..also thinking of long acting along with this therapy..but once things settle down..

..dr abhijeet pawde has 10-12 cases/ year..thats Too high ..so he must be having really gud hands on this disease..

It's pretty prevalent in bangalore. Even in cats, I remember this one dog whose I could not control the blood glucose even with high doses of insulin, all it needed was antibiotics for the urine. Just as word or caution, please be sure to check if the vet has had a steroid shot earlier. You will be surprised

there r two types of insulins one is regular which works.for up to 2 hrs and NPH which works for about 12 hours so in day time before meals use regular insulin and in night time use regular with NPH(before meals) since the immediate glucose source Will b assited by regular insulin while the glucose which is absorbed whole night after heavy night meals Will be utilized with the help of NPH insulin

keep a caution the time gap between ins injection and meals should not exceed half an hour else b ready to bear hypoglycemia consequences
