germanshephard pyoderma -where we stand

Ajitesh Kumar hi,
german shepherd pyoderma is one of the most frustrating thing in pet practise. It is said that if u want to kill anybodies practise send him GSD pyoderma cases.I have found mixed results with cephalexin, bayrocin , pet derm and rex. sometimes i have used amoxy clav also.i tried bath with pet derm twice a week, ceph...alexin t.i.d for 1 month,if needed with bayrocin also.i have done CULTURE AND AST . still recurrence is very high.
Any better choice.

any dermatological condition can be as frustrating because we are depending on just theses much of medicine!! many of us just use ABCD formula, without any thoughts.

in recurrent pyoderma cases please always rule out the thyroid. also complete shaving and usage of petben is useful.

why topical prep not used?? i use industrial grade gentian violet(liquid) and benzyl benzoate ( sourced from a client) and appy it after clipping hairs.the results are good and even sum clients took it for their relatives dogs .

for any skin cases ,i prefer to clip hairs and use hard toothbrush over it to clean the dander ,if it bleeds, clean it and apply topical prep which ever u decide..

i have mentioned abt shaving the hair dr saurabh. my point was not treatment but how to prevent recurrence or atleast prolong it. topical preparation in gsd pyoderma may not be useful as the whole skin is affected. gentian violet may be a good answer as i have not tried.
